You have graduated. You have a job and responsibilities. You have a place. Men, we need to talk, for this is a list of top ten things that should be there in your enviable bachelor pad.
A place to sit and eat, and sleep: Men, not having bedding or using that coffee table as your dining room is a thing of the passé. What you need is a perfect lounge chair (solves the problem when gaming for a long time) and proper bedding for your bedroom.
Throw in a comforter, spare sheets and pillow while you are at it. Choose smart and simple, and be as creative as possible. You can definitely go for lamps as an added bonus.
Kitchen thingies: Okay, you might think that this is pushing it but when you move into your apartment don’t forget your kitchen. Most of the kitchen in the flats on rent in Pune come stocked with basic amenities like shelves and cabinets, but you need to stock it up. Invest in a good coffee machine and go buy the kitchen towels.
In case your inner MasterChef rises quite often within you, go ahead and buy those groceries. Chips is a good idea as a snack, but you would microwave to make those popcorns and a wok to fry that chicken. Be smart about it and invest in things that you are sure you would be using.
Well stocked bar:
Okay, this, you knew it right from the start. Go ahead and splurge some money on good alcohol and some glasses. Buy or hire that bar cabinet that you have been eyeing. Touch up with some awesome lights and you are good to go. Heads up though, this can prove to be a costly affair, so plan accordingly.
Well stocked fridge:
Unless you have Monic Geller (of Friends fame) living next to you, it’s best to stock up your fridge with the things that you would like to eat. Don’t dedicate the entire space to beer (use your bar cabinet for that).
Stocking up the bathroom:
Men need grooming too and trust me when we say that you need to have a stocked up bathroom, you need to have it. This also, includes your dresser or a wardrobe. You will need mirrors, chest of drawers and maybe some nice lights. Don’t forget the extra sets of towels. Go suave and you are all set.
Okay, you thought you had the sitting arrangement sorted, but it becomes difficult if you are one of the guys who is staying in a PG in Pune. Fret not, we have the perfect alternative for you, bean bags. Go buy some for they are comfortable, and actually nice to sit on and have those gaming marathons.
Don’t roll your eyes, but yes, you need the curtains. Would you like to have a peeking Tom? The curtains are there to add privacy. Match them with your colors, go for the thicker fabrics and you are sorted.
TV and home theater system:
The later might be pushing the budget, but if you are in India, then you know that music and cricket is something that you can’t leave without. There are plenty of options both online and offline, go ahead and buy.
Throw those pillows and accessories already: You are getting there, once you have your den ready, you would soon realize that a couple of cushions, pillows and carpets actually add the final charm.
Add something living: Not allowed to keep pets? Don’t worry, invest in some hydroponics and grow your herbs. These look great and they also clean indoor air.
So, now that your den is ready, have loads of fun and keep it clean.
